Leaping at the World Social Forum
Last month, the Leap team joined tens of thousands of activists from around the world during the 2016 World Social Forum to build our movement for social and environmental justice. From workshops and panels to film screenings and collective art, here are snapshots from our week in Montreal.
“We have a responsibility not just to our human relations but to the natural world as well.” — Ellen Gabriel, Leap Manifesto panel
Art is activism: The Leap goes aerial
Supporters of the Leap Manifesto sent a bold message calling for a leap away from fossil fuels and a vision of a better, more equal and connected world.
Canada’s Progressive Answer?
The Real News Network caught up with Naomi Klein, Avi Lewis, and Clayton Thomas-Muller at the World Social Forum for their broadcast, The Leap Manifesto: Could this be Canada’s progressive answer?”
Making the Links
The WSF was an opportunity to introduce the Leap Manifesto to a global audience, alongside initiating signatories from the social justice, labour, environmental and Indigenous rights movement. Activists from across Canada converged at interactive workshops to plan for increased local and sectoral organizing. Let’s keep making the connections and organizing towards a justice-based transition to a post-carbon economy.
